Uptown Is the Place for Volunteers

Each year from April 17-23, National Volunteer Week is celebrated. Created by the national volunteer organization, Points of Life, the week is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers who are making a difference in their communities. Though the national celebration is only one week, Uptown encourages volunteers to give back all year round.

Volunteers are critical to making Uptown a better place to live and work. "National Volunteer Week is a wonderful time to recognize volunteers throughout Uptown for donating their time, voice and talent to making a difference in our community,” said Beth Robinson, President and CEO at Uptown Cincinnati, Inc. (UCI). “We are grateful to the thousands of volunteers who give their time and skills in an effort to make Uptown one of the best areas in the greater Cincinnati region.”

As National Volunteer Week has passed, there is no shortage of organizations to choose from that have a diverse mission. Uptown is home to many exceptional non-profit organizations that are dedicated to making the community and greater Cincinnati a better place to live, work and play. The following are just some of the Uptown nonprofit organizations that have volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House is just one of the nonprofit organizations that celebrated National Volunteer Week this year. Learn more on how to volunteer today by visiting the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House website.

UCI was founded in 2004 and members of the anchor institutions include Uptown’s largest employers and the area’s leading tourist attraction, the Zoo. “Our anchor institutions share the idea that we can accomplish more for ourselves and the Cincinnati neighborhoods where they live and work---by working together,” Robinson said.

“That’s what National Volunteer Week is all about: volunteers are a vital part of our effort to build stronger communities.”
