TRIHEALTH INVESTING $140 MILLION ON SIGNIFICANT GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL RENOVATION

TriHealth – the Cincinnati region's nationally recognized integrated health system made up of six hospitals, 13 major ambulatory campuses and more than 140 sites of care – is investing $140 million in significant additions and renovations to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Over the next five years, Uptown’s Good Samaritan Hospital’s campus will undergo extensive redevelopment including a new cutting-edge surgery facility, a five-story building for various services and a team member parking garage. Additionally, this major renovation will allow for the relocation and development of several departments.

"This major milestone represents another giant leap forward in our plans to bring every patient we serve convenient access to our full continuum of world-class TriHealth care close to home in the most modern and state-of-the-art facilities," said TriHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Mark C. Clement. "The five-year Master Facility Plan addresses the need for newer and larger operating rooms and support functions such as patient prep and recovery functions, along with modernized facilities to better support our nationally-recognized Good Sam service lines, including neurosciences, cancer, women's health and advanced surgery."

“This significant investment by TriHealth in Good Sam is not only great news for Uptown but for our entire region,” said Beth Robinson, President and CEO of Uptown Consortium, Inc. “These improvements will positively impact the quality of life for so many, so it’s a truly impressive and inspiring development.”

To allow for better navigation and wayfinding throughout the hospital campus, structural enhancements will also be made, advancing patient care and visitor experience at every turn. The renovations will continue to reorient the main entrance to the Good Samaritan campus from Clifton Ave to Dixmyth/MLK with convenient access to I-75.

Phase I of the project will start this spring with the demolition of the Hebrew Union Dormitory, which TriHealth obtained in anticipation of this project, to make room for the new parking garage. Phase II includes constructing the five-story building, which will house all perioperative functions and ultimately allow for the relocation of the Emergency Department and Outpatient services.

"TriHealth has been planning these important investments and renovations at Good Samaritan Hospital for some time, but the project was put on pause while we focused on caring for our community throughout the pandemic," said Marla Silliman, Senior Vice President, Good Samaritan Regional Operations. "We are constantly looking for ways to improve our services and the overall experience for our patients, which includes modernizing our historic facilities while maintaining the tradition of excellent care."

“This is yet another example of the exciting progress we are making on our journey to get healthcare right—better care, better health and better value---by offering the most comprehensive, integrated and highest performing network of hospitals, ambulatory campuses, physician practices and post-acute services across the region,” said Clement. “By continuing to invest in both Good Samaritan and Bethesda North Hospitals, we are investing in our people and our communities, and providing the right care, at the right time and the right value.”

TriHealth recently unveiled the expanded Good Samaritan Western Ridge campus in December. On February 25, TriHealth also broke ground on the new TriHealth Heart Hospital on Bethesda North’s campus. These innovative projects across the region show TriHealth’s dedication to deliver the best care to patients and families in the Greater Cincinnati area.
