Finalist Announced For Uptown Celebration May 31st

Uptown is excited to announce the finalists for the upcoming Uptown Business Celebration.

Uptown Consortium is experiencing a surge of interest in its first Uptown Business Celebration, an event designed to recognize successful businesses and nonprofits throughout Uptown's five neighborhoods: Avondale, Clifton, Mt. Auburn, Corryville and Clifton Heights/University Heights/Fairview (CUF).

"Sponsorships and tickets are moving quickly," said Janelle Lee, director of Business and Community Affairs at Uptown Consortium. "We have exceeded our original goals, but are still promoting ticket sales to celebrate with as many friends, fans, and business and community partners as possible."

The inaugural event to be held May 31 revolves around two features. The first is the keynote speaker, recently hired University of Cincinnati Athletic Director Whit Babcock. Babcock also serves as the 2011-12 president of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors.

The second feature of the luncheon is the presentation of five Uptown Cincinnati Awards of Excellence. Nominations were submitted and finalists were selected in each category by a team of community representatives.

The finalists are:

Small Non-Profit: Clifton Cultural Center; Gabriel's Place; Rohs Street Café
Large Non-Profit: The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden; The Christ Hospital: University of Cincinnati
Business Community Champion: Dr. Stanley Broadnax; Scott Crawford; Ozie Davis
Small Business: Mac's Pizza; PsychPros; Stag's Barber Shop; The Dive Bar
Large Business: Kilroy Restaurants; Uptown Rental Properties; WKRC Channel 12

The Uptown Business Celebration will take place at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center on Thursday, May 31 at 11:30 am, with registration beginning at 11:00 am.
