$3 Million Approved for the Uptown Interchange

Exciting things are happening for the uptown area of Cincinnati. Two weeks ago the Ohio Department of Transportation approved $3 million to continue design work on the proposed Interstate 71 interchange at Martin Luther King Drive in Avondale and Walnut Hills. This interchange will have a variety of benefits and impacts on the communities around it.

According to The Cincinnati Enquirer (2012), in an economic impact study conducted by the University of Cincinnati, it was estimated that the $73.3 million interchange project could generate over 400 construction jobs and more than 2,000 permanent jobs. The study projected that a new interchange would generate more than $325 million in private investment. The Uptown Consortium is excited about the opportunities this interchange will bring to Uptown.
