In anticipation of the new interchange at the intersection of Martin Luther King (MLK) Drive and I-71, the Uptown Consortium, Inc. (UCI) initiated a strategic study to plan for the project’s transformational impact. This effort produced a vision for the Uptown Innovation Corridor, a mixed-use development supporting Uptown’s medical, research and innovation industries.

FOUNDATIONAL PLANNING

The Uptown Innovation Corridor vision was formed using a three-tiered approach to transportation management, community development and design.

TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT

Improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity across the MLK and Reading corridors for better access to Uptown.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Stabilize existing housing and business districts with balanced residential infill and pedestrian accessibility.

PLANNING AND DESIGN

Create a unified identity for Uptown Cincinnati at the MLK intersection at Eden, Burnet and Reading.

INVESTING IN SUCCESS

Since construction began on the MLK interchange, UCI has actively purchased properties that support the Uptown Innovation Corridor vision.
